In 2025, we gathered in Campo Grande, the capital of Mato Grosso do Sul, at the School of Business and Administration (ESAN) of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS). This prestigious institution has 46 years of excellence in higher education, spans 10 campuses and offers 138 undergraduate programs, 40 stricto sensu postgraduate programs - including 36 master's, 11 professional master's, and 20 doctoral programs – serving nearly 30,000 undergraduate and 2,800 postgraduate students. Additionally, UFMS provides 40 lato sensu specialization courses, enrolling approximately 8,500 students. ESAN, one of UFMS’s academic units, is at University City in Campo Grande. It offers undergraduate programs in business administration, accounting, economics, tourism, management processes, and technology, which are available in-person and via distance learning. At the postgraduate level, ESAN provides a Master's and Ph.D. in Business Administration, a Master's in Accounting, and a professional Master's in Public Administration through the National Network (PROFIAP). One of the main objectives of the conference is to stimulate the production of Qualitative Research in Critical Accounting (QRCA) in Portuguese and Spanish speaking countries in Latin America. In the long term, it is hoped that the conference will be seen as having played a role in expanding and consolidating the network of Latin American researchers committed to the QRCA.

The QRCA workshop purposefully aims to provide a small, convenient environment for participants to feel comfortable presenting their work in front of a constructive and receptive audience. Furthermore, the workshop aims to discuss, in a collegial atmosphere: a) the conduct of qualitative research, carried out from a critical or interpretative perspective; b) the process of publishing this type of research in international accounting journals; and c) research opportunities consistent with this research approach. Some panels, involving people from the Critical Perspectives on Accounting editorial team, will be held around these themes. Advice will also be provided on resources that people can use to improve their understanding of the QRCA.
